2008 OIC Industry Roundtable

in the emergency response community”

About

The 2008 Office for Interoperability and Compatibility (OIC) Industry Roundtable will bring together industry professionals, emergency responders, and government officials from across the Nation. These individuals will have the opportunity to collaborate on solutions for key technology challenges that confront interoperable communications for the emergency response community.

Participants can choose from a variety of roundtable discussions that will address critical aspects of the interoperability challenge from various stakeholder perspectives. Among the intended outcomes of these discussions is mutual agreement on the operational restrictions and requirements of industry professionals, emergency response, and the federal government to determine recommendations for next steps that advance communications interoperability.

The Roundtable agenda includes:

These forums will identify opportunities for industry to contribute to the advancement of "product-independent" communications interoperability solutions that support the needs of emergency responders.

To that end, this event is not focused on specific products, but rather on developing solutions that advance the emergency response community toward a reliable "system of systems" — one that is not dependent on any single technology but instead allows for maximum flexibility within and among numerous technologies. For this reason, the OIC Industry Roundtable will not have an exhibit hall and will not endorse individual vendors or products.

The OIC Industry Roundtable will serve as a major event in conjunction with the 2008 Homeland Security Science and Technology Stakeholders Conference, set for June 2 to 5, 2008, in Washington, D.C.

Hosted by the Science and Technology Directorate's Office for Interoperability and Compatibility.
